How It works! In those instances where you just can't make a contact with the "gator" clamp of your pipe locator, just attach the MagClamp™ to the ferrous metal object, connect your "gator" clamp to the connection on the MagClamp™, and the other "gator" clamp to your ground, and locate as usual. The MagClamp™ passes the transmitter's frequency onto your target better than the "gator" clamp, and, is much easier to attach. (In some instances, you may still have to scrap off a little paint or rust to get a good connection).
Water Utilities use it regularly to drop down on a valve nut for maximum connectivity in those congested intersections, and where there's close proximity to other utilities such as gas, or telecom. And, you already know it's impossible to attach the "gator" clamp to a valve, and too congested for inductive locates. (Which will "energize" everything within 15-20 ft. of the transmitter). It's also used to quickly attach to hydrants, or to the grounding source, or to make a "looped" connection for superior locates. Pipeliners love it, too!
The MagClamp™ "just makes sense" in most locating situations--And is well worth the $84.00 (Including S&H) investment.
Our customers tell us that the MagClamp™ paid for itself the first time out.
WARNING! The MagClamp™ is conductive, and requires some respectable level of good judgment and common sense regarding electricity. If you feel certain that you have neither, then have a friend operate the MagClamp™ for you, because you may be an idiot.
